The UK government is currently running a Consultation on plans to change copyright laws to allow AI companies to use the work of music creators without permission or payment, and it is important that PCAM members respond individually to the Consultation.

The more responses the government gets, the more likely they are to pay attention and not end up handing our copyright works over to AI developers for free and with no guardrails.

UK Music has been at the forefront of the campaign against the government’s proposals, and the link below, provided by Olga Fitzroy of UK Music, gives a concise overview of the issue and, more importantly, offers detailed tips on how to respond to specific key questions in the Consultation document.

Music creators should take the time to engage with this, because this really is a battle to protect our livelihoods and the profession.

The link at the end of this paragraph enables people to write to their MP expressing their concerns and requesting that he or she writes to the Secretary of State to make those concerns very clear.  It’s a click through to the pro forma letter and one click to send it, so this will really only take 30 seconds to do.

IMPORTANT:  The deadline for responses to the government’s AI Consultation Doc is Tuesday 25 February, so please get your response to the Consultation in before then.

Thanks very much for your support on this important issue!

Best regards,
